Founder:
Michael Remington "Right now, I consider us in the Columbus, or Lewis & Clark stage of space exploration. I am excited about the prospect of space elevators and the impact they could have on society by allowing for an economical and abundant transportation into space. In my opinion, anything that accomplishes this, including the space elevator, will usher in one the most exciting and revolutionary ages of all human history.
My educational and work background is as an Aerospace Engineer,
with a specialty in composites and material design, I currently design high
performance materials and structures for rockets, such as Atlas V, THAAD, and
A2S at Aerojet,
in Sacramento, California. Nearly three years ago I graduated from UCLA with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering. It was my technical exposure to space elevators, by Dr. Chobotov (Orbital Mechanics Prof.), and experience gained from Dr. Hahn (Multifunctional Composites Lab lead),
and support received from Bill Tam (Aerojet Materials Dept. Lead) which has led me to the field I am in today.
Prior to college I served in the US Navy for four years as a Gunners Mate 2nd
Class, which allowed me to travel abroad and get to know the world. I am a
proficient sailor and private pilot, and enjoy a wide variety of activities such
as martial arts, surfing, riding motorcycles, and reading sci-fi novels (of
course). Space exploration is most exciting to me, as it is the final and
ultimate frontier! | |

Greg Fazzio: Greg is interested in the development of high strength nanotube based materials for advance structural applications, such as the space elevator. As a Senior Chemist employed by GenCorp Aerojet, for over 25 years in the Quality Control laboratory, he supports both Solid and Liquid Propulsion programs and is an integral participant in failure investigations and materials characterization. His specialty lies in both physical and chemical analytical techniques. Greg hails from UC Berkeley.

Dave Ortiz: Is a machine operator with 24 years at Aerojet, of which
14 were in the machining and armaments R&D field. Some of the programs
he has supported include: Titan, HEDI, SSME Hex, Space Shuttle, ATLAS V,
FLM, SADARM, Predator, and TOW2B. He is also a
single Father, of three: Jason, Jerramie, and Robin. His hobbies include
working (?), camping, home repair, and summer outings. He also enjoys
exotic old cars, fishing, and just hanging out with his friends.
As Dave put it, "...I am having fun working with all of the guys on the 'Team'
to make this project a success...", and he is a firm believer that, "we will
make it happen!!"
